Sontag Hotel, a time-slip to the late Joseon Dynasty banquet hall. The 'Sontag Night Party_손탁야회' is a unique program that reenacts the atmosphere of the Namsangol Hanok Village in the late Chosen Dynasty from the 1890s to 1910, when the Eastern and Western culture first met. On the day of this event, the front yard of the Seoul Namsan Gukakdang is transformed, sponsored by Sontag Hotel, the Namsan moonlight uplifting the atmosphere. We invite you to the Sontag Ball, where you can experience the tastes of our ancestors from a century ago. There are plenty of spectacles, food, enjoyable events and much more prepared for you to enjoy. A time travel to the 1890’s that no one can experience elsewhere. It is a high-class private party held under the moonlight over Namsan Mountain for distinguished guests.
'Sontag Night Party’ is a dinner party program offered by Seoul Namsan Gukakdang, and it rekindles the atmosphere of the 1890’s when the cultures of the east and the west began to find each other. Antoinette Sontag (1854~1925) was a translator working between the Korean Empire and Russia, who first introduced coffee to Korea. She also once worked as a Western food chef in the Gyungbokgung, with the recommendation from the Russian minister. When Emperor Gojong temporarily stayed in the Russian legation, she served coffee to the emperor and gained his trust to later open the Sontag Hotel on the land bestowed by the imperial family near Deoksugung and also become the manager.
